Connecting travelers with true locals to use their insider knowledge is just our first step in revolutionizing travel. Travelers can now find curated local suggestions in cities like Paris, NYC, San Francisco, Miami, Rome and Lisbon. Our local tastemakers are hand selected and include an award-winning mixologist in Paris, a rapper in Havana, a film producer in Miami, a historian tour guide in Rome and other similar profiles worldwide.

We feel we’re solving a problem no other travel company has yet. The travel sector is a multi-trillion dollar industry. Every year, we spend thousands of dollars and sacred vacation time on our travels in pursuit of an almost spiritual experience. But even with such a huge investment, we often end up with cliché itineraries and lackluster in-trip experiences. Crowdsourcing sites and scattered social media posts offer inauthentic suggestions, take too much time and lack trust. It shouldn’t be this way.

Instead, travel should be a portal to local culture that leaves us feeling connected to the destination and the people in them. It should be a simple experience in the real world, not one glued to the phone desperately searching for the nearest restaurant without unreasonable prices and long wait times.

With the launch of A Day With, we’ve made it easy for people to plan and experience inspiring trips. Through the iOS app, travelers can select a local in their destination city and instantly see their trusty recommendations. The app is intuitive - travelers can browse categories like restaurants, nightlife, and cultural activities and then filter by price and opening hours. Travelers can scroll through a list of places or search with the map view. Each place includes context like comments, photos, phone number and so on. When travelers find a place they like, they can bookmark it or add it to one of their own collections, just like they would add a song to their Spotify playlist.

Creators on A Day With are selected by A Day With’s editorial team for their tastemaker profile and high quality recommendations. Suggested places include local favorites, award winners and longstanding institutions. In addition to city guides which round up the locals' absolute must-visit places, larger cities also feature hyperlocal curations like the best natural wine bars in Paris according to a sommelier and the best jazz clubs in NYC according to a touring keyboardist.

For travelers like Lili, a millennial New Yorker visiting Athens for the first time, the feeling of authenticity and personal trust is key to the travel experience.
